Of course, we had to spend some time on the Pacific Coast, so my parents and Caro would experience it, too. From Las Vegas, we, therefore, made our way to Carlsbad south of Los Angeles. There, we accommodated ourselves on a very nice Campground directly next to the Ocean. With a fantastic view of the sunset, we had our first dinner there.
The next morning, after breakfast, we drove to San Clemente to the Lower Trestles Beach, where the Hurley Pro surf event took place.
It was incredible to see all the guys surfing there, that I saw on the live stream for years already, competing for the world championship.
And next to that the beach really invited to relax there. Sadly the final of the event didn’t take place on that day, but still, it was pretty spectacular to see the guys rip all those waves. That evening, once more, we had a great dinner at sunset. Awesome!
The following day we already departed from the campground, but before we made our way back to the hinterland we first visited San Diego. There we started our day with a nice breakfast in La Jolla. Especially the cove inhabited by many sea lions and the palm trees along the shore was worth seeing them.
Also, after we drove on to the Gaslamps District we felt very comfortable in this city. Everything felt a bit more relaxed than in the huge cities Los Angeles and San Francisco.
In the end, we made our way over to the Coronado Island to catch a view of San Diego downtown. We granted ourselves a cup of ice cream and took one last swim in the Pacific Ocean before we finally drove off.
Now we would go back to the deserts o the US.
